Anna vs ChatGPT for data analysis

ChatGPT can analyse data. It can read a spreadsheet, write a paragraph about it, and even run code on it. So why does Anna exist? Because every time you sit down to do real analytical work in ChatGPT, you hit a fork in the road: either the math runs and the text is shallow, or the text is rich and the math is invented. You can't have both in the same conversation. Where ChatGPT wins

ChatGPT is the best general-purpose chat product on the planet, and it's not close. If you have a single file and a single question and no plans to ever look at that file again, paste it in and ask. It's also the cheapest path to the question "is there even a signal here?" Throw the file in, ask the obvious questions, get a vibe-check, decide whether the work is worth doing.

And the scope is huge. Data analysis is one of a hundred things ChatGPT does well. It writes, it brainstorms, it reviews code, it drafts emails, it explains your tax return. Anna does one job. If you ask it to classify the sentiment of 8,000 support tickets, it'll reach for TextBlob or VADER — libraries from a different era that decide "negative" based on word lists, not on reading the ticket. The math on top of those labels is precise. The labels themselves are 2014-era guesses.

In chat mode — ChatGPT without code execution — the assistant reads each ticket the way you would. It picks up sarcasm, context, escalation, the difference between "this is broken" and "I'm cancelling." Textual classification is genuinely good. But the moment you ask for a number on top of those classifications — "what's the retention impact for unhappy customers?" — there's no code running. The assistant freeballs a number. "73% of unhappy customers churned within 60 days" might be right, might be entirely fabricated. There's no way to tell from the output.

So you get to pick: right math on wrong labels, or right labels with invented math. For most real analytical questions, you actually need both.
